/ About the project
ZAP needed to stand out in a saturated crypto market while simplifying the complexities of Web3 for users more familiar with Web2 experiences. Many potential users were deterred by the technical nature of wallets, private keys, and blockchain technology. Accessibility was another hurdle, as most Web3 platforms lacked the ease and familiarity of Web2 interfaces. Additionally, retaining users over time required creating incentives and engagement loops to keep them active and interested.

/ Approach
To tackle these challenges, I crafted a bold and energetic brand identity for ZAP, inspired by comic book aesthetics. High-contrast yellow and black, blocky typefaces, and fluid illustrations gave the brand a distinct, memorable presence. I developed a scalable design system in Figma that integrated seamlessly with development workflows, ensuring consistency and efficiency across all areas of the platform.
On the user experience front, I stripped away unnecessary jargon and designed interfaces that made trading and onboarding intuitive. Social sign-ins and familiar payment options like Apple Pay and Google Pay were implemented to make the transition from Web2 to Web3 as smooth as possible.
To drive engagement and retention, I introduced a gamification system that rewarded users with daily quests, leagues, and raffles. These features provided ongoing incentives and created a sense of progression and competition.
/ Results
ZAP successfully bridged the gap between Web2 and Web3, laying the foundation for what would become a highly valued and well-funded platform. The work I contributed played a key role in driving ZAP’s growth, ultimately helping secure $15.1 million in total funding and pushing the token value to $100 million.
The platform not only stood out visually but also offered an accessible, user-friendly gateway into Web3. Users could trade and launch tokens without dealing with liquidity or complex crypto processes. Onboarding became frictionless, with automatic smart wallet creation tied to social logins. The gamification system helped sustain user interest and drive ongoing engagement, while the responsive dashboard ensured a seamless experience across devices.
This was just the beginning, but the early design and strategy decisions were crucial in setting ZAP up for long-term success.
